I want you to meet Sheri Van Wert Photography’s official retoucher…Karen Romero! Having her on board has been a wonderful blessing for both me and my clients.
Karen and her husband Nic.
Karen has been doing retouching for me in a regular capacity for the last few months. Those of you who have ordered prints from me lately have seen the results of her beautiful work.
BEFORE RETOUCHING AFTER KAREN'S MAGIC TOUCH
Those of you who have started businesses know that there comes a time when you have to admit that you can’t DO everything, that you can’t ever ever BE GREAT at everything, and that in order to grow you must LET GO of things. For me retouching has been something I have had to let go of.
Beautifully retouched and finished pieces of art featuring their families is a fundamental componant of the service I want to provide for my clients. Enter Karen. Karen and I have actually been working together for over 5 years. We met when she bid on and won a session with me at a fundraiser event I used to do. I was super intimidated when I found out I would be photographing another photographer! Her and her husband were so wonderful to work with that not only did we have a super fun portrait session wandering through the alley ways of Sacramento, but we also became fast friends.
Not long after that she and Nic began second shooting for me at weddings. She was my second pair of eyes and always seemed to know exactly what I needed, and where I needed her to be. A consummate professional, she was a joy to work with.
I knew Karen was also a accomplished retoucher, and on occasion I sent over a complex job or two for her to perfect. Not only did her skills blow me away, but she was fast at it. I kept this knowledge in my back pocket.
Then in the fall of last year Karen informed me that she was moving to Southern California, and I cried. She was moving for a very good reason, however, and I knew that the could not be the end of our relationship. That was right around at the same time I was saying enough was enough with my retouching block. Consequently a new business relationship was born between us! With my freed up time I have already felt the benefits of improved photographic skill and customer service. And her skill have brought my finished images up to a whole other level. She is incredible, I admire her very much and I hope you will too.
