This beautiful family braved the winter cold to have a portrait session in my neck of the woods...literally! It had just snowed that week before Baby T's 1 year portrait session. For the most part it had all melted away by the weekend, but we still had a few patches here and there to add a little extra spice to the backdrop. I just can't ask for a better setting than the forest. The trees lend themselves as a perfect backdrop and the leaves and moss the perfect flooring. This is a studio I can play in ALL day long.
It is always a fun game to see what brings out the smiles of a little one this age. In the top picture I was jingling around a set of car keys. It must be an odd sight to see me interact with the baby by playing peek-a-boo, fake sneezing or jiggling a toy around all while evaluating my exposures and composing through the viewfinder! Can I get an award for juggling?
In the picture with mom, dad was dancing around behind me. Someday I should videotape a behind the scenes video of all us adults during a toddler session. HA! Our inner child comes out for play time. The most extreme we've been was during a session last year when my husband snuck up behing me and proceeded to shoot me with a nerf gun. That elicited PLENTY of giggles. Whatever it takes!
Was this downed log put here just for me to pose kids on? I think so.
These little precious moments and expressions MAKE MY DAY.
This spot was great for framing the family with the trees. I was a little worried at first that it would be too much and they would look engulfed in trees, but it turned out to be just right.
If you are thinking you would love a forest portrait session too, please note that I give a $25 discount off session fees for anyone who chooses to have their sessions done in Foresthill!
